Snow and Ice Removal, Flat Rubber Roof
I"m posting a few pictures to illustrate a recent job that we did - one of our clients has a flat rubber roof that accumulated so much snow and ice that it represented a major structural issue.
The roof was leaking into a living room, and when we arrived we discovered that should it snow and rain again, this roof was in imminent danger of collapse. Here are some pictures of it:

This ice was a foot thick in some spots.
Talk about an iceberg!
An idea of how much standing water that there was.
Almost done, three hours later.
Here's another look, after.
And finally done.
What I'd like to mention is that many of the homes on Long Island were built for summer-only use.
Roofs like this were not built to hold 3 feet of snow.
Additionally, they put skylights in where they cause the most havoc, right smack dab in the middle of the rubber roof. While this roof does have a tiny pitch, it's just not up to this much weather.
If you look closely at the pictures you'll note millions of tiny cracks in the rubber, mostly around the skylights. This is from expansion and contraction. We will most probably be replacing this roof as soon as possible.
If you have an ice dam or excessive snow and ice on your roof, call me. We can prevent leaks by getting the perpetrator off the roof quickly, rather than letting it sit, like on this roof.
