Historic Rainfall In NY

When The Rains Came

Holy cow, did it rain. When you think of rain, you think of 1 inch, maybe 2 inches, max - but yesterday Islip-MacArthur Airport (near Bohemia/Ronkonkoma) recorded a RECORD 13.5 inches of rain. That's INSANE.

Why am I capitalizing like a madman? Because we never expected it. Sure, they said something about the possibility of a storm, and maybe a little flooding, but it just kept coming, and coming, all night between Tuesday and Wednesday morning, it rained, steadily. Then it dried out - looked like we would be fine, and a rogue thunderstorm popped up and gave us torrential downpours for 1/2 hour.

We got this kind of rain - the kind that drenches you from head to toe, even though you've got a golf-sized umbrella. There were cars everywhere - the LIE was closed at nearly every exit, Sunrise Highway underpasses looked more like swollen rivers, and even parking lots collapsed.
Were we ready for it?
Nope.

Do you know what happened? I got a deluge of calls yesterday for gutters, skylight repairs, and roof repairs. Why? Because people who had put off their roof/exterior work were feeling sorry...sorry for not having done what they needed to do, and watching the rain pour into their homes through cracks, in window sills, even under their doors.

See this guys? Yep, that's the guy who called me over 20 times yesterday, pleading for me to come out and fix what needed to be done last year. I still get people who haven't fixed thei houses since Super-storm Sandy!

Check out this news footage:
You'll be amazed.

So what can you do now? Well, don't wait for September, I can tell you that - because it's only going to get worse. Hurricane season is gearing up, and these types of storms are on the increase.
Call me today, book a free estimate, get it done, and laugh when your neighbor asks you for my card.
