Ooookay, folks. That's the wrap from the local weather center (at MacArthur Airport).
This meteorologist has a lot of computers helping him forecast what could happen. Better to err on the side of caution, be prepared, and then if very little happens, at least you'll be ready for the next one.

What else can you do to decrease home damage?

1. Make sure that your gutters have good leaders (downspouts) with long directional bottoms, called extenders. Most look like this:
Or worse, this:

When it's really raining hard, and you don't have some way for the water to be lead away from your foundation, you can get flooding, as in the picture above. No good.
Here's a better extender:

See how it leads the water out a looong way away from the foundation? That's what you want to see. But it's not always practical, in a smaller home setting. Try out something like this, available at your local Home Depot:

It's flexible, and you can direct it anywhere you want. What about beautification? You can do some thing like these:

Isn't that pretty? And look, they really work. How about this one:

Pretty funny, eh? At least it's doing it's job.
So what are you waiting for? Get up, get some extenders, and safeguard your home today!
